Lucille Thomas Hopkins, 71, of Piney Flats, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, April 26, 2017.
She was born April 3, 1946, in Haysi, Va., to Japtha and Dorthula Thomas.
In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Sonya Ruth; her brother, Tony Thomas of Haysi, Va.; and two brothers-in-law, Jack Blevins of Bristol, Va. and Jim Hicks of Blountville, Tenn.
She graduated from Haysi High School in 1964 and married Ollie James "Jim" Hopkins Jr. in 1966. Lucille was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother and helpmate raising three children on the family farm.
She was dedicated to the church and served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was previously a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist for 20 years and had been a member of Rocky Springs Baptist Church for the last 25 years.
A quiet soul, Lucille was kind, caring, patient and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Ollie James Hopkins Jr.; a son, James Kenneth Hopkins of Piney Flats, Tenn.; two daughters, Lori Ann Wright of Bluff City, Tenn., and Amy Baghetti and husband Joseph of Bluff City, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Matilda Jane Wright and Leland Duke Hopkins; four sisters, Evelene Mullins and husband Eugene of Bristol, Tenn., Theda Clay and husband Walter of Richmond, Va., Katy Blevins of Blountville, Tenn., and Juanita Hicks of Blountville, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Edith Thomas, of Haysi, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Weaver Funeral Home Chapel in Bristol, Tenn., with Pastor Greg Lovelace officiating and Pastor Dwayne Locklear speaking.
The family will receive visitors from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Thomas Family Cemetery in Haysi, Va. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
