Mary Elizabeth Damron Adams Maddix, 88, of Grayson, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, April 3, 2017, at Community Hospice Center in Fort Myers, Fla.
She was born June 12, 1928 in Grahn, a daughter of the late Ellis V. and Goldie Dickerson Damron.
In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Adams and William Maddix; two brothers, Ellis Reed Damron and James E. "Jimmy" Damron; one sister, Marcella Walters Gee; and one nephew, Robert "Bobby" Gee.
She was a member of Olive Hill United Methodist Church. Elizabeth was a 1947 graduate of Olive Hill High School. She worked for the Carter County Health Department and the Northeast Community Action Agency where she retired.
She loved spending the winter months in Florida with Paula, where they enjoyed walking on the beach, picking up seashells and watching gorgeous sunsets,while listening to the ocean waves. She was always glad to return to the hills of Kentucky in the spring, back home to Angela and her two cats, Bright Eyes and Black Cat. Elizabeth will be greatly missed by her loving family.
She is survived by two daughters, Paula Dailey of Fort Myers and Angela Woods of Grayson; two granddaughters, Sarah (Branham) Dailey of Morehead and Emily (Scott) Thomas of Aurora, Colo.; and a sister-in-law, Janie Damron of Grayson.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2017, at Olive Hill United Methodist Church located on State Highway 2078 with Brother John Lambert officiating.
