Mildred M. Gray, 89, of Sandy Hook, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017, in St. Claire Regional Medical Center at Morehead.
Mildred was born April 4, 1928, the daughter of the late Joseph Earnest and Hazel Green Gray. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, William "Bill" J. Gray and Charles Herbert Gray.
She was a member of the Shelby United Methodist Church at Shelbiana where she served as choir director for many years. She was well known for her vocal talent. She was a former executive assistant to the general manager of Eastern Kentucky Coal at Stone.
She was a former board member of the Appalachian Regional Hospital, a member of the Stone Chapter 533 Eastern Star and a member of the National Secretary Association.
She is survived by nieces, Susan Gray Preston of Sandy Hook, Ann Gray Thorpe and her husband, Ray, of Palm Bay, Fla., and Patricia Santer of Northville, Mich.; a nephew, Robert Cochrane and his wife, Toy, of Northville; a sister-in-law, Irene Gray of West Lynn, Mich; great-nieces and nephews, Shelly and Eric Willms, Elizabeth and Joe Lewis, Doug and Missy Preston, Joey and Kristi Preston, Jenny and Steve Duncan, Clif and Barbara Thorpe, Steve Santer, Phil and Jenny Santer and Racheal and Stevie McCaston; and many great-great-nieces and nephews.
Mildred was a beloved family member who doted on her nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook with Brother Larry Dale Ison and Brother Warren Vanover officiating. Burial will be in Gray Cemetery.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday the funeral home.
