Olive's Story

Olive Marie Rister Sammons, 84, of Ashland, went to be with the Lord at 9 a.m. Sunday, March 5, 2017, in the Woodland Oaks Nursing Home in Ashland.
Mrs. Sammons was born April 11, 1932, in Greenup County, a daughter of the late John and Nellie Rhoden Rister. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Donald Eugene Sammons; a sister, Verna Rister Sienkowski; and three brothers, Hobert Rister, Wayne Rister and Gary Rister.
Olive retired from King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. She was a long standing member of the Blackburn Avenue Baptist Church and loved the Lord and her family immensely. She was the most kindhearted and generous lady who was loved by everyone who knew her.
Surviving are her five children, Donald DeWayne Sammons of Worthington, Joetta Akers of Ashland, Robin Borders of Coal Grove, Ohio, John (Lisa) Sammons of Rush, and Donna (Danny) Sallie of Ashland; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2017, by the Rev. Ron Riley at Evans Funeral Home in Raceland. Burial will be in Plum Grove Cemetery in Greenup.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in her memory to Community Hospice, 1480 Carter Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
