Ollie's Story

Ollie Marie Cantrell Rose, 89, of Catlettsburg, passed away Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell.
Marie was born July 13, 1927, in Paintsville, a daughter of the late George Patton and Sara Jane Estep Cantrell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Millard Rose; two daughters, Linda Cox and Evelyn Ison; a brother, Eugene Cantrell; and three sisters, Opal Williams, Oshall Wheeler and Camellia Jewel Cantrell.
Marie was a member of Kilgore United Methodist Church and a loving homemaker to her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Billie Shockey (Dan Chaney) of Catlettsburg; three brothers, Earl Cantrell of Marysville, Ohio, Bill (Pat) Cantrell of Delaware, Ohio and Clyde Cantrell of Delaware, Ohio; two sisters, Mildred Fay and Phyllis (Ron) Azbell both of Delaware, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Craig Dee Gillette Jr., Crystal Cantrell, Sarah Cox McClay, Danielle McIntyre, Shane McIntyre, Autumn Cox Brobst and Brandi Shockey; 12 great-grandchildren, Chambers McClay, Charli McClay, Chase McClay, Peyton Cantrell, Max Cantrell, AhLeigha Smith, Amanda Brobst, Jordan Enyart, Tucker Marshall, Kennadi Marshall, Hannah Gillette and Amanda Singleton; four great-great-grandchildren Allie, Jayden, Cater and Emma; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017, at Steen Funeral Home - 13th Street Chapel with Pastor Guy Moyer officiating. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum in Ashland.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
