Roberta's Story

Roberta Skeens, 82, of Richmond, formerly of Ashland, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017, in Richmond.
Roberta was born May 11, 1934, in Prichard, W.Va., to the late Hebert Arthur and Florence Bellomy Hooser.
She was a faithful member and secretary of 13th Street Free Will Baptist Church and a 50 year plus member of Order of Eastern Star Rush Chapter 546.
Roberta leaves behind her loving husband of 65 plus years, the Rev. Jack Dalton Skeens; a son, Jack Skeens Jr. (Janet) of Richmond; two daughters, Verna (Ron) Christian of Ashland and Ruth (Ray) Tipton of Ridgely, W.Va.; a brother, Arthur Hooser Jr. (Lena Mae) of Jackson, Ohio; two sisters Joyce Skeens of Prichard, West Virginia and Mary Adkins (Russell) of Louisa; five grandchildren, Matthew Christian (Andrea), Melissa Johnson (Brad), David Tipton (Courtney), Tracey Burns (Jeremery) and Adam Tipton (Melissa); and five great-grandchildren, Ian and Will Christian, Avery Tipton, Kadence Burns, Chelsea Sumner and Jamison Tipton.
Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood. Burial will be at a later date.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to 13th Street Free Will Baptist Church, 3430 13th Street, Ashland, KY 41101.
