Roberta Sue McCann White, went home to be with her Heavenly Father and loved ones July 9, 2017.
She was the daughter of the late Burtrum and Laura Shepherd McCann, born May 26, 1951, in Ashland. In addition to her parents,she was preceded by her son, James E. White; her grandson, Christopher J. White; and her late husband, Elwood White whom passed away in 2002. (They were married 50 years and had three sons); and a very special friend and companion, Dennie Barker of Catlettsburg in 2007.
She was a member of Second Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for many years and was treasurer of her Sunday school class. She was life member in the D.A.V. Auxiliary and Purple Heart Auxiliary. She was president and helped organize the Purple Heart Auxiliary in Ashland in 1991. She was also an officer in the Phoenix, Ariz. D.A.V. and Purple Heart Auxiliary.
Surviving are two sons, Paul F. White of Leesburg, Va., William (Bill) White and wife, Joyce, of Nitro, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Adrienne Schneidmiller of Glendale, Ariz., James R. White and wife, Melanie, of Guyton, Ga., Sgt. 1st Class Justin L. White and wife, Holly, stationed with the U.S. Army at Fort Bragg, N.C., Brittney White of Phoenix, and Megan and Leah White of Leesburg; seven great-grandchildren, Hannah and Andrew Schneidmiller, Destiny White, Baylee and Jaelyn White and Riley White; a brother, Harold McCann and wife, Marilyn, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a niece, Julie and husband, Greg Tims, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two great-nephews, Brian and Kevin; a Uncle, Ray McCann of Ashland; several cousins which she loved very much but two special ones who seemed like sisters, Bernadine Bartram and Gail Sammons; many friends that were like family; her adopted family, Larry and Debbie Barker and family; Lisa and Jeff Culp and family; Sandy and Jeff Clark and family; and Tim and Nancy Barker and family.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. July, 12, 2017, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg. Pastor Eddie Caudill will officiate. Entombment will be at Rose Hill Mausoleum.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Second Baptist Church, 4950 Williams Ave., Ashland, KY.
