Ronald David Darby Sr., 62, of Ironton, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at his residence.
The Ashland native was born March 28, 1955, a son of the late Roy F. and Alberta Faye Stapleton Darby.
Mr. Darby was a 1975 graduate of Coal Grove High School and a former carman at the CSX Railroad, retiring in 2000 after 23 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and a mechanic.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth "Beth" Compston Darby; three sons, Ronald David (Lori) Darby Jr. of Ludowici, Ga., Billy Joe Darby of Marion, Ohio and Travis Darby of Bloomingdale, Ga.; a daughter-in-law, Jesse Darby of Ironton; ten grandchildren, Zackary Darby, Kevin Darby and Lauren Darby, all of Ludowici, Ga., Michael Darby, Katelynn Darby, Daniel Darby and Jonathon Darby, all of Eagles Nest, Tenn., and Alexis Carrico, Anabelle Darby and Saulen Darby, all of Ironton; a great-grandchild, Levi Darby of Ludowici, Ga.; four brothers, Roy E. Darby of Ashland, James Darby of Louisa, Michael Darby of Amelia Island, Fla., and Richard Darby of Coal Grove, Ohio; and three sisters, Joyce Butler of Ironton, Connie Messer of Ashland and Christy Darby of Grayson.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2017, at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton with the Rev. Mike O'Bryant officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Ron's name to OSU James Cancer Center, 460 W 10th Ave., Columbus, OH 43210.
