Roy Huston Roe, 71, of Olive Hill, went home to be with the Lord Sunday evening, May 21, 2017, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
He was born May 16, 1946, in Carter County, a son of the late Talmage "Tal" and Nixola Kiser Roe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Roy Daniel "Dan" Roe whom passed away May 28, 2005; and two brothers, Jimmie Wayne Roe and Carl Roe.
Roy was a born again Christian whom loved serving the Lord with all his heart. He proudly served his county in the U.S. Army. Roy retired from AK Steel as a crane operator. He was a very faithful and loving husband to his wife Amanda, they both shared a special bond and enjoyed attending church services together. Roy was a very caring person and loved visiting the sick and witnessing for the Lord.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years and nine months, Amanda Lou Conn Roe; and a brother and two sisters-in-law, Gary "Mitch" and Kathy Roe of Greenup and Brenda Roe of Grayson. He leaves many other family members, church family and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60 in Olive Hill in Olive Hill, with Brother Bobby Day and Brother Jim Porter officiating. Burial will be in Easterling Cemetery in Olive Hill with full military honors by the Olive Hill American Legion Post No. 138.
Friends called from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2017, and may call after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
