Samuel C. "Sam" Penix, born May 28, 1945, in Ashland, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland following an extended illness.
He was a son of the late Elzie Penix and Goldie Robbins Blevins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his siblings, Elzie Penix Jr., Curtis Penix, Manuel Penix, Betty Blanton, Floyd Penix, Leatta Meade, Delbert Penix, Helen Barker, William "Billy" Penix, Ray Alan Penix and Roy Penix.
Sam graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing in 1969 and worked at various hospitals and nursing homes around the area and throughout the Tri-state.
He is survived by one brother, Charles Penix of Ashland; one sister, Judy LaMothe (David) of Flatwoods; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Penix and Shirley Penix Price both of Ashland; and a host of nieces and nephews who loved him very much.
Sam loved his Lord and loved to go to Church. "In my house there are many mansions. If it was not so I would have told you. If I go prepare a place for you, I will come again."
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Penix will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2017, at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens. Pastor Perry Young will officiate.
Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday at Neal Funeral Home, 2409 Center Street in Catlettsburg.
