Former Ashland resident, Vicki Evelyn Dummitt Carr, 60, died Jan. 25, 2017, at her home in Charlotte, N.C., after a prolonged illness.
Vicki was born July 8, 1956, in Louisville and spent her early years in Ashland. Her family moved to California in the 1960s. She attended schools in Palm Desert and Indio High for two years.
In 1972 the family returned to Ashland, where Vicki attended Paul G. Blazer High School and was crowned homecoming queen in the fall of 1973. She graduated from Blazer in 1974, attended the University of Kentucky and eventually became a registered nurse. During her career, she worked in medical facilities in Kentucky and North Carolina and as a flight and rural health nurse.
She was a vibrant, loving soul, whose greatest joys were her family, friends, and her sweet dogs.
Vicki leaves behind a son, Ryan Harvey of Los Angeles, Calif.; her mother, Barbara Dummitt Brown of Charlotte, N.C.; a granddaughter, Caitlyn Harvey of North Carolina; a sister, Robin Wright Stout of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, Kelley Wright and wife Kathy of Oceanside, Calif; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Bert and Hester Dummitt; and a sister, Jimi Renee Wright.
Her constant and faithful canine friend, Precious, will miss her terribly.
Interment was at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
A celebration of life will be in Ashland at a later date.
