Walter King, 72, of Westwood, died Sunday evening in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell following an extended illness.
Walter was born July 16, 1944, in Boyd County, a son of the late Monte and Nanny Jane Holbrook King. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Elmo King; and three sisters, Opal King, Kathleen Akers and Goldie Guthier.
He was owner and operator of Kings Painting Service and was active in the business with his sons for 47 years.
Walter also served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Ironville Independent Baptist Church.
Walter leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia Parsons King; a daughter, Tammy Watkins (Jeff) of Catlettsburg; two sons, Stuart King of Westwood, and Scott King (Denise) of Worthington; a brother, Arthur King of Raceland; two sisters, Rosella Menshouse and Arlene Gallion of Westwood; six grandchildren, Roman Lewis, Corey Remines, Casey Watkins, Kelsey King, Madison King and Seth Ryan Stone King; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Walter will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland by Brother Perry Young. Burial will be in the Dixon Cemetery.
