Grayson, Kentucky - Andy Darrell Rogers, 87, of Grayson went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, December 12, 2024 at the Cabell Huntington Hospital. Andy was born January 13, 1937 in Ashland, KY a son of the late, Homer L. and Lillie Alexander Rogers. In addition to his parents, Andy was preceded by his mother and father in-law, Marcus and Dora Cox Suttles; and a sister-in-law, Wanda Rogers.
Andy began working for United Brick & Clay Workers; through mergers he was an International Representative for the Aluminum, Brick and Glass Workers of America, and retired from the United Steelworkers of America. Andy served his country honorably in the United States Army in 1959-1960. Andy is a member of the First Baptist Church of Grayson. In the past years and churches, he served as a deacon, trustee, church clerk and anything that needed to be done. Andy grew up in Denton, KY on a farm. He loved going back there with the family and buddies, cooking a roast on the old wood stove, being in the country and talking about his experiences living there.
Andy is survived by the love of his life for over 66 years, Marquetta Suttles Rogers; a son, Darrell Marques (Lisa T.) Rogers; two grandchildren, Keila (Donald) Bender of Lexington, KY and Hunter Rogers of Morehead, KY; four great- grandchildren, Kaitlynn (Camren) Bender Staton of Lexington, KY, Jakob Andrew Bender of Lexington, KY, Liam Rogers and Carolyn Rogers both of Morehead, KY; a brother, Jackie Rogers of Ashland; and a host of friends and extended family who all mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be 1 pm Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at the Malone Funeral Home with Bro. Rio Taylor and Bro. George Steele officiating. Burial will follow in the East Carter County Memory Gardens with military honors. Visitation will be 11 am Wednesday until the service hour.
