Westwood, Kentucky - Betty Lou Salyers, 82, of Westwood, Kentucky, wife of Leonard Wilson Salyers, died peacefully Monday morning, August 25th, at the home of her daughter while under hospice care.
Betty was born December 2, 1942 at Flatwoods, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Orville and Clara Keeton Short. She was a member of the Community Tabernacle Church where she was gladly known as the church card lady, sending cards to all for any occasion. She was a member and former officer of Westwood TOPS, active from 1979 until she became too ill to participate.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by a daughter; Christina Lynn Salyers. 3 brothers: Raymond, Curtis, and Harold Short, and 2 sisters: Freda Mae Short and Ann Waugh.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of 65 years include 2 sons; Darrell Wade Salyers, and wife Pam, of Greenup, Kentucky. David Wayne Salyers, and wife Diane, of Greenup, Kentucky. 2 daughters; Teresa Gail Schaum, and husband Karl, of Cynthiana, Kentucky. Donna Sue McCorkle of Ashland, Kentucky. 2 sisters; Delores Franklin of Flatwoods, Kentucky. Joan Dearmon of DeGraff, Ohio.
18 grandchildren; Amanda Marie Salyers, Matthew Salyers, Trinity Riffitt, Darien Conn, Michael Allen Combs, Alycia Nicole Schaum, Alura Renee Schaum, Karl 'KJ' Schaum, Clint Thomas Wilson, Seth Ty Wilson, Zac Scott Wilson, Andrew Salyers, Tristan Trent, Sheena Griffith, Amber Trent, Danny Adkins, Joe Adkins, and Amanda Adkins.
22 great grandchildren; Malaki, Harlan, Paytin, Gregory, Zoe, Payton, Gavin, Gabe, Grant, Destin, Amillia, Jaylin, Julia, Scarlett, Shayla, Samantha, Abbey, Ella, Adam, Austin, Sela, and Miah.
Graveside Services will be Thursday, August 28th at 2:00 PM at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation is 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM at PRESTON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME
