Dane Wilds, 73, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2020. He passed away from Ohio University East in Columbus, Ohio.

The Lawrence County, Ohio, native was born December 21,1946, a son of the late Joseph and Alberta (Corn) Wilds.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Gail (Lewis) Wilds, whom he married December 21, 1966.

Dane was a 1965 graduate of Rock Hill High School and was a United States Army Veteran. After serving his country proudly, Dane worked for AK Steel as a crane operator. He was a member of Royersville Missionary Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying his time hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed watching the Ironton Fighting Tigers, where he could be heard in the stands, loudly cheering on his grandson and the team. Dane was also a member of the "The Old Men McDonalds's Morning Crew". Family meant everything to Dane, he loved being the family bus driver for his grandkids, taking them wherever they needed to be and wanted to go.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a very special nephew, Shawn Lewis, whom he thought of as a son; a sister, Dreama (Paul) Long.

In addition to his wife Sherry, he is survived by two sons, Greg (Tracey) Wilds, Kevin (Jennifer) Wilds and a "bonus son" Scotty (Jennifer) Lewis, all of Ironton; sister, Joy (Ronnie) Allen of Ashland, Ky.; brother, Joe (Carol) Wilds of Columbus, Ohio; three grandsons, Cody Wilds, Levi (Emily) Wilds, and Evan Wilds, all of Ironton; two granddaughters, Alaina and Brinley Wilds of Ironton; one great-granddaughter, Emma Wilds of Ironton; along with a host of special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, 518 S. 6th St., Ironton, Ohio with Pastors Billy Markins and Mike Long officiating. Burial will follow the service at Woodland Cemetery, Ironton, Ohio, with military graveside rites provided by VFW Post 8850 of Ironton. Visitation will be Monday evening 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
