Ashland, KY - Danny McCalvin, 75, of Kitts Hill, Ohio, died Thursday, June 19th, at Kings Daughters Medical Center. Danny was born September 16, 1949 in Ashland, Kentucky, a son of Dorothy Castle McCalvin of Cannonsburg, Kentucky and the late Arthur McCalvin. Danny was also preceded in death by his sister, Ravonna Gill. He was a retired Letter Carrier with the US Postal Service and was a proud US Marine veteran serving in Vietnam. Danny was an incredibly gifted mechanic. According to his sister, he was the "guru" of building Volkswagen Rail Buggies. Surviving in addition to his mother include a son; Danny Wayne McCalvin of Kitts Hill, Ohio. 2 daughters; Goldie Christine McCalvin of Russell, Kentucky. Candice Nadine McCalvin of Flatwoods, Kentucky. 2 brothers; Garrett McCalvin, and wife Jeanie, of Cannonsburg, Kentucky, Terry McCalvin, and wife Mary, of Cannonsburg, Kentucky. A sister; Jetta Reeves, and husband Ossie, of Catlettsburg, Kentucky, and 3 grandchildren; Josie Lynn, Zane, Lauryn, and close friends Teresa, and husband Shelby Eaves. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 1st, at 12:30PM at PRESTON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME. Burial, with full military honors, will be in the KENTUCKY VETERANS CEMETERY NORTHEAST. Visitation is Tuesday from 11:30AM until service time.
