Ocala, Florida - Danny R. Morris, 80, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on September 5, 2025—a day of special meaning, as it was his beloved mother's birthday.
Dan was born on December 23, 1944, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, to Laurence Vernon Morris and Hazel Vivian Morris. He grew up in West Russell, Kentucky, where he was a proud "Red Devil." He had a lifelong love for basketball, fast cars, fishing, Greenbo Lake, and his Kentucky roots.
After graduating high school, Dan served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Raleigh. Following his service, he attended Morehead State University, earning a degree in business. Soon after, he moved to Florida, where he built a long and successful career in banking. During those years, he was not only a father but also a deacon in his church, mentoring many young men and women through basketball and faith.
Later in life, Dan transitioned into the car industry, working for many years at Palm Chevrolet and ultimately retiring from DeLuca Toyota. He had a gift for connecting with people, and he found as much joy in mentoring others as he did in selling cars. Known for his determination and love of a challenge, Dan truly loved going to work every day.
Dan is survived by his two daughters, Danielle Renee Sherman, and her husband Rick, of Middleburg, Virginia, and Cristin Leigh Egizio, and her husband Joe of Ocala, Florida. He will be remembered as a man of faith, perseverance, and joy, whose stories, laughter, and kindness touched countless lives.
Dan will be laid to rest in Kentucky beside his parents on October 18th, 2025.
