Doris J. Sturgill Bush
Doris Jean Sturgill Bush, 75, of Grayson, went to her Lord, Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Doris was born July 4, 1944, in Bruin, Ky., a daughter of the late Henry Green Sr. and Lena Adkins Sturgill.
Doris worked many years at Grayson Sporting Goods and was a member of the Grayson Church of Nazarene. Doris, who was known as "Mammy" by so many, loved her family and friends. Doris was especially proud of the long tradition of the soup bean dinner held at Johnson Creek every October. Doris was also known to tell all her girls, "Be Pretty", and get your lipstick on.
Doris was preceded in death by four brothers, Henry Sturgill, Jr., Walter Sturgill, Clayton Sturgill, and Franklin Dee Sturgill.
Doris is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ronald J. Bush; two daughters, Veronica (Bob) Thomas and Valerie Young, both of Grayson; one sister, Betty (Dan) Ison of Bruin; three brothers, James (Norma) Sturgill of LaGrange, Ohio, Rhondal (Sharon) Sturgill and Krandall (Carol) Sturgill both of Bruin; four grandchildren, Katelyn (Luke) Carroll, Alex (Tori) Thomas, Caroline Young, and Lucas Young; two great-grandchildren, Kendall Jade Carroll and Kora Grace Carroll.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, 11 a.m. at Malone Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Bayless, minister and Bro. Mike Kitchen officiating. Burial will be in the East Carter County Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, and after 9 a.m. Saturday at Malone Funeral Home.
Family suggest that memorial contributions be sent to Community Hospice, 1420 Carter Ave., Ashland KY 41101.
