George Dewey Scott, 87, of Flatwoods, passed away April 5, 2025, at his home. Mr. Scott was born April 1, 1938, to the late Charles and Mayme Phelps Scott.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two children, Vickie Lynn Hornbuckle, and Christopher Ryan Scott; his twin brother, Curtis Scott; two sisters, Thelma Bradley, and Betty Sellars.

George retired after 34 years of service at AK Steel, afterwards he began to run the family business in town, Scott's Furniture. He never met a stranger and could talk and talk to anyone around him. He was an avid University of Kentucky and Cincinnati Red's fan. Mr. Scott had a love for dogs, especially his two fur-babies. He looked forward to holiday dinners at his home and couldn't wait to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also a longtime member of the Elks.

Surviving is his loving wife, Carolyn Boggs Scott; son, Charles Bryan (Judy) Scott; daughter, Joyce (Tony) Malone; eight grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Caperton; sister-in-law, Margie Scott; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other close family and friends.

The family would like to thank his caregiver, Charlie, along with the staff of Hospice.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens. Carman Funeral Home is caring for arrangements.
