James Joseph "Jim" Webb Obituary
James "Jim" Joseph Webb, 83, of Catlettsburg, passed away Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, in St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va., after a brief illness.
Mr. Webb was born Feb. 9, 1934, in Ironton, Ohio, a son to the late John and Bertha Little Webb.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Arvilla Patrick; and two brothers, Robert Webb and Lindsey Webb
Mr. Webb was a 1952 graduate of South Point High School. Straight after high school he went to work for Ashland Daily Independent. He went on to become a real estate agent, owning his own Kentucky Realty for over 50 years. Mr. Webb served two terms as an Ashland City Commissioner (1966-1971) and was Mayor of Ashland from 1972-1975. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Fern Johnson Webb; a son, James "Jimbo" Webb of Ashland; a daughter, Nannette (Jim) Wheeler of Ashland; two stepsons, Terry Johnson of Catlettsburg and Rick Johnson of Huntsville, Ohio; three sisters, Betty Kay Webb and Barbara Collins, both of South Point, Ohio and Mary Dudding of Ironton, Ohio; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, 2017, at Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point, Ohio with Pastor Tom Keelin officiating.
There will be no public visitation.
