Westwood, Kentucky - Joyce Blevins Johnson, 86, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away peacefully, Thursday, July 31st, at Kingsbrook Lifecare Center. Joyce was born October 21, 1938 in Ashland, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Albert and Ethyl Porter Blevins. She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by 5 brothers; Alvin, Willie, Elwood, Willis, and Charles Blevins. 2 sisters; Mabel Thompson and Cora Hall. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Ronald Johnson. Her daughter; Lisa Cooksey, and husband Rex. A son; Greg Johnson and wife Marcia. Her precious grandchildren; Derek (Mandy) Cooksey, Brett (Alyssa) Cooksey, Brooke (Ryan) Knipp, and Tyler McClelland. Great grandchildren; Kaleb, Leah, Jonah, Micah, Aubree, Jayden, Lincoln, and Kennedy. Sisters; Betty (John) Grossl and Debbie (Roger) Esque. Several nieces and nephews. Sisters in law; Joy McGehee and Janet Marushi. Brothers in law; Alfred Johnson and Clarence Thompson. Joyce was a 1958 graduate of Russell High School and worked many years at Bank of Ashland and Fairview Schools as a secretary. She was of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed attending churches in Ashland and in Elliott County. She never met a stranger and loved to gather with her family for lunch or a Sunday dinner that she had lovingly prepared for all. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Kingsbrook Lifecare Center for their exceptional care of our mom over the last 3 years. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 5th, at 1:00 PM at PRESTON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME by Brother Brad Profitt. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation is Tuesday from 11:00 AM until service time.
