Lena Frances Brainard
Lena was a registered nurse specializing in oncology for 25 years at KDMC, she was nominated for the Edna Monk Quarterly Award twice, winning that award once. Lena loved nursing acquiring a master's degree in oncology care. She was an avid reader and loved her family and was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
Parents William C. and Shirley E. Barker Brainard.
Preceeded in death by parents; one sister-in-law; Kathy Brainard; and one great nephew, Stevie Brainard.
Survived by three brothers, William (Sharon) Brainard Jr. of Flatwoods, Harold (Ann) Brainard of Port St. Lucie Fla., Kendall (Maudie) Brainard of Catlettsburg.
Also survived by six nieces and nephews, Debra Lynch (Mark) of Bradford, Ohio, Stephen Brainard of Stuart, Fla., Marsha Bruce (James) of Wurtland, David Brainard (Amy) of Port Hueneme, Calif., William H. Brainard of Louisville, and Joshua Brainard of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; four great nieces and nephews, Ethan Brainard, Brooke Brainard, Cheyenne Brainard, and Hannah Lynch; and a host of extended family.
A private graveside service due to the governor's regulations of COVID-19 and not by the family's request will be given by Pastor Marvin Boggs.

Lena was a great friend to me though we didn't spend as much time together as we would have liked. I remember when my mom passed away her services were out of town and when I got home there was a huge yellow mum on my front porch with a sympathy card from Lena.
