Ashland, Kentucky - "To care for others was her calling, to love her family was her greatest joy."
Linda Sue Chaffin, age 85, of Ashland, KY, arrived at her Heavenly Home on January 26, 2026. Leaving behind a legacy for family to cherish for a lifetime.
Linda was born in the fleeting days of Summer on September 2nd in 1940. She was the blessing of the late Ishmael and Hazel Davis Daniels. Linda was a proud graduate of Ashland High School. She had a caring soul and knew she was meant to care for others. It was her caring nature that led to further her education in healthcare. Linda was among the first to graduate from the former King's Daughters Nursing School. It was an accomplishment that she was so proud of. Linda spent many years taking care of the little ones at Our Lady of Bellefonte Memorial Hospital, where she worked as a Registered Nurse in the Pediatric Unit. It was a job that fulfilled her for many years until she retired in 1985.
Linda life was blessed with a career, and a family. Linda got 60 wonderful years with her husband and together they raised two children who gave her the title of grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. As proud as she was of her many accomplishments, those titles meant more to her than anything. Linda was a true example of what a mother should be. She diligently took care of the house and her every growing family. She would fill the house full of love and the aroma of fresh baked Pecan Pie. Linda enjoyed many things but nothing more than a quiet day at home reading, through the pages of good book Linda would be occupied for hours. Just one more chapter, she would tell herself. If she wasn't reading she would busy her hands Quilting and making treasures for her family to cherish for many years to come.
Linda had an unwavering faith, and found peace among the congregation at England Hill Free Will Baptist Church, were she was a long time member. Her family takes great comfort in knowing that she arrived at that Mansion that was prepared just for her.
Linda lived a full life and made many memories with her family and others. Although she has passed she leaves behind a love that will continue to linger on in the hearts of everyone she knew and loved.
Left behind to celebrate her life is her two beloved children Lisa Bocard and her husband Rod and Roger Chaffin and his wife Lorie, both of Catlettsburg, KY, two devoted grandchildren Leah Powers, and Dr. Braden Bocard, two special great-grandchildren Bailey Powers and Adyson Powers, and one great-great-grandchild of whom she was very excited to meet Lennox Chambers. Also surviving is a special niece Teresa Cassity and one special friend Debbie Yates.
In addition to her late parents, Linda is enjoying a Heavenly Reunion with her husband Roger Chaffin, and her sister Doris Cassity, and one brother James Darryl Daniels.
A visitation to honor the life of Linda will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Neal Funeral Home, located at 2409 Center Street, Catlettsburg, KY, from 1pm to 1:45pm. Linda will then be honored by the Nurse Honor Guard. A graveside service will be held after the visitation at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens beginning at 2pm with Pastor Willie May officiating.
