Georgetown, Kentucky - Opal Allene Loar, 78, of Georgetown, KY, lovingly known as "Ennie," passed away on July 28, 2026, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY.

Born in Ashland, Kentucky, Ennie was the daughter of Kenneth and Esther Whitt.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Mike Loar of Georgetown, KY; two sons, Andy (Kathy) Loar of Georgetown and Jason (Sheila) Loar of Hebron, Maryland; two grandsons, Ryan and Austin; two granddaughters, Alexa and Abbey; two sisters, one brother and several nieces and nephews.

Raised in Westwood, Kentucky as one of four children, she spent over 30 years as an elementary school teacher in Ashland and Lexington, KY. She graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Education and later proceeded to attain her Master's Degree. Everyone including students, friends and neighbors admired and loved her.

Funeral services for Ennie will be held 1:00 PM Saturday August 1, 2026 at the Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum by Gary Loar. Burial will follow at Ashland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 8th Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
