Phyllis G. Boyd Sammons
Phyllis G. Boyd Sammons, 68, of Rush, Ky.,, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at Kings Daughters Medical Center.
Mrs. Sammons was born August 5, 1951, in Boyd County, Ky., to the late Kessie and Lizzie Kidd Boyd.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Kessie Sammons in 2004, and a brother, Kellisdean Boyd.
Phyllis was a 1969 graduate of Boyd county High School, retired from Boyd County Public Schools where she worked in the Library, and Ramey Estep as their Secretary. She was a 4-H Leader, FFA Honoree, Boyd County Farm Bureau Women's Auxiliary, and loved chasing grandkids attending their activities. She was a member of Garner Missionary Baptist Church.
Left to cherish memories are her loving husband of 50 years, Ray Sammons; son, Denny (Stacey) Sammons, of Rush, Ky.; daughter, Missy (Rick) Blackburn, of Louisa, Ky.; grandchildren, Caity, Citori, Wyatt, Hannah, Zach, Brandi, Tyler, Michael; six great-grandchildren; her brother, Willis (Becky) Boyd; and lifetime friend, Kathy Felty.
Funeral service for Mrs. Sammons will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2020, at the Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home, 2702 Panola Street, Catlettsburg, KY. Pastor Gary Arrington and Pastor Bob Quillen will officiate. Final resting place in Ross Cemetery. Visiting hours are 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Garner Missionary Baptist Church, 19231 State Route 3, Rush, KY 41168.

Lifting you all up in my prayers for God's Divine comfort. Phyllis was truly a special lady who will not be forgotten by those who had the wonderful pleasure of knowing her. May God Bless and hold you all close to Him.

The help she gave us 4-H kids will never be forgotten. The endless quizzing for Horse Bowl, her constant presence at shows. She is very much loved.

Ray, our prayers go out to you and yours. Also to Willis who spoke very loving and often about Phyllis and your daughter's equine accomplishments while we were at work. May God comfort you and the family.
