Phyllis H. Smith, 93, of Venice, Fla., passed from this earth and met her savior on February 28, 2021.

Phyllis was born May 31, 1927, in Raceland, Ky., to the late Clinton Lewis and Nancy Susan Helmintoller.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, James A. Smith, Jr. Phyllis was also preceded in death by her sisters, Evelyn Jackson, Hazel Cassity, Wilma Dunn and Stella Bortel.

She was a Licensed Practical Nurse at Kings Daughters Hospital in Ashland, KY from 1970 to 1984.

Phyllis was a lifelong member of the Assemblies of God Church and had attended Harvest Chapel of Venice, Fla.

She is survived by her son, James A. Smith, Ill (Donna) of Vero Beach, Fla., and her daughter, Suzanne Burke (David) of Venice, Fla.

Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Leisa Klerlein (Paul), James A. Smith IV, Jonathan Burke (Chris), and Kristin Nelson (Anthony); 13 great-grandchildren, Taylor Gravitt (Derek), Dylan Klerlein (Hannah), Emma Burke, Hayden Burke, Lena Burke, Leif Nelson, Juliana Nelson, Soren Nelson, Mia Nelson, Evangeline Nelson, Annika Nelson, Gunnar Nelson, and Trygg Nelson; one great-great-grandchild, Everett Klerlein.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 12, 2021 at Evans Funeral Home in Raceland, Ky., beginning at 10:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 12 p.m. by Rev. Anthony Nelson.

Entombment will follow in the Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum in Ashland, Ky.

Due to current regulations masks are required for all guests and social distancing is highly recommended.
