Roger Larry Stewart, 88, of Flatwoods passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at his residence, with his family by his side.
Roger was born April 3, 1931 in Ligon, Kentucky to the late Edward Carlisle and Lillian Kees Stewart.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife Doris Little Stewart in 1998; a son-in-law, Rick Young; four brothers, Bill, Robert, Charles and Lovell Stewart; four sisters, Helen Smith, Dorothy Hall, Estalene Hall, and Beatrice Pennington.
Roger proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was an Electrician with IBEW Local 932, a member of El Hasa Shrine A-Team, Royal Order of Jesters, Valley of Covington Scottish Rite, Ashland York Rite, a 65-year member of Smith Lodge 775 F&AM;, and a member of Wildwood Church of God.
He leaves behind his loving children Susie Young of Ashland, Charles Stewart (Debbie) of Ashland. and Pete Stewart (Deborah) of Hilliard, Ohio; one brother Edward Stewart of Crystal River, Fla.; four sisters Phyllis Waller Relham, N.C., Charlotte Schoenike of Minnesota, Dolores Hall of Harold, Ky., and Ruth Mullins of Richmond, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Sara Sorrell, Katie Park, Becky Davis, Jenny May, Danny Stewart, Brittany Sharkasi, Dustin Stewart, Tera Clere, and Seth Roark; 10 great-grandchildren; along with a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be Friday August 16, 2019 at 8 p.m. at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood, with pastor Steve Harris officiating.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A masonic service will be conducted by members of Smith Lodge 775 F&AM; at 7:45 p.m. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at James Newman Cemetery in Hi Hat, Kentucky with military honors provided by the Kenova American Legion Post 93.
