Ronald Lee Hatfield, 71, of South Shore, Ky., passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at his residence following an extended illness.

Ron was born on August 22, 1949, in Huntington, W.Va., to the late Kyle Hatfield and Rosemary Hatfield Lutz.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris McCallister Hatfield; and brothers, Mark Hatfield and Dana Hatfield.

He is survived by his sons, Ryan Hatfield (Stephanie) of Lexington, Ky., Kyle Hatfield II of South Shore, Ky., and Zachary Hatfield of Lexington, Ky.; grandchildren, Taylor Hatfield and Regan Hatfield of Lexington, Ky., and Sawyer Hatfield of South Shore, Ky.; sisters, Debby Newman of Worthington, Ky., Alice Tingler of Worthington, Ky., and Jade Lutz of Ironton, Ohio.

Ron was a graduate of Raceland High School, attended the United States Airforce Academy, graduated from Marshall University, and the University of Kentucky School of Law. He was retired.

His great joy was his grandchildren and he truly enjoyed watching his grandson playing sports, and was a U.K. Wildcat fan.

Visitation will be on March 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home in Raceland, Ky. Graveside services will be family only with Rev. Bill Oakes Officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Ashland Community Hospice at 1480 Carter Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.

Due to current regulations, masks are required for all guests and social distancing is highly recommended.
