She loved cats and was a big fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Susan was the daughter of the late Charles Thomas Hickle, Sr., and Ruth Edna Thomas Hickle. The Hickle family lived in Goulds, outside of Steubenville, Ohio.

It became necessary for Susan to come live with her aunt Helen Adkins in Flatwoods, Kentucky for 1 year, then she moved into Close to Home in Ironton, Ohio, where she got excellent care. She was looked after by cousin Martin Keith Adkins and Family, Aunt Helen and cousin Laura O'Neal and family.

Susan had 3 brothers, all deceased; Charles Thomas Hickle, Jr., David Hickle (Debby), and Fredrick Hickle. Surviving are many nephews and nieces; D.J. (Kate), Matthew (Sarah), Jeremy (Patti), Corinna (Bill Moore), and many great nephews and nieces.

Preston Family Funeral Home of Ashland, Kentucky and Dunlope-Sharac Funeral Home in Wintersville, Ohio, were in charge of arrangements. Visitation and funeral services were at Dunlope-Sharac Funeral Home in Wintersville, Tuesday, August 12th. Burial was in Fort Steuben Estates Cemetery in Wintersville, Ohio.
