Murfreesboro, TN - Tyrone L. Baker, a loving spouse, devoted parent, proud grandparent, faithful Christian, and dedicated servant to both his country and community, passed away peacefully on January 21 at the age of 80. Surrounded by his family and wrapped in love, he entered into the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ.
Born on November 12, 1945, in Ashland, Kentucky to Ona Runyon and Alexander Baker, Ty was a man of deep faith, unwavering commitment, and quiet strength. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy, embodying the values of honor, courage, and service. After his time in the Navy, he dedicated over 40 years of his life to Calgon Carbon Corporation in Catlettsburg, Kentucky, where he was known for his integrity, work ethic, loyalty, and sense of humor.
Ty shared a remarkable love story with his beloved wife, Wanda. Married for over 59 years, their relationship is a testament to faith, devotion, and mutual support. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and their shared faith in God. They raised two children, teaching them the importance of kindness, humility, and hard work. Ty was also the proud grandparent of his granddaughter, Alexandra Grace, who brought immense joy and light to his life.
A lifelong Christian, Ty was an active member in both of his churches in Kentucky and Tennessee. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, and he lived out his beliefs through acts of kindness, generosity, and service to others. He found great joy in studying God's word, singing hymns, serving others, and sharing his faith with family and friends.
Ty will be remembered for his steadfast love and the countless ways he touched the lives of those around him. Whether sharing stories of his time in the Navy, offering guidance, or simply lending a listening ear, he was a source of strength and encouragement to all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda; his children, Victoria (Paul Buechel) and Eric; his granddaughter, Lexie; and a host of extended family and cherished friends. Ty is now reunited in Heaven with those who went before him.
Ty's legacy of love, faith, and service will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed but joyfully remembered, as we take comfort in knowing he is at peace in the presence of his Lord.
"His master said to him, " Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23.
